Kansas Brief Info

Kansas is a Midwestern United States territory in the United States of America. Its capital is Topeka and its largest city is Wichita, with Johnson County being its most populated county and its largest job center. Kansas is bordered by the north of Nebraska; the east of Missouri; the south of Oklahoma; and the west of Colorado. Kansas is named after the river Kansas, which was named after the Native American Kansas who lived along its banks. The name of the tribe (naturally kk?: ze) is often referred to as "men of the (south) water" although this was probably not the original meaning of the word. What is now Kansas has been home to numerous and diverse Native American tribes for thousands of years. In general, tribes in the eastern part of the state lived in settlements along the valleys of the river. Tribes were semi-nomadic in the western part of the state, hunting large herds of bison.

By 2015, Kansas was one of the most active agricultural states producing high yields of wheat, corn, sorghum, and soybeans. With an area of 82,278 square miles (213,100 square kilometres), Kansas is the 15th largest state by area and the 34th most populous of the 50 states with a population of 2,911,505. Kansas people are called Kansansans. Mount Sunflower is the highest point of Kansas at 1,231 meters (4,039 feet).

To the north, Kansas City has a variety of diverse ethnic communities, with the state's second largest land area. His attractions include Kansas Speedway, Sporting Kansas City, Kansas City T-Bones, Schlitterbahn, and Village West's shopping and entertainment complex The Legends. Nearby, there are several national and regional attractions including the Providence Medical Center Amphitheather, the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, and the annual Kansas City Renaissance Festival in Kansas ' first settlement Bonner Springs. The city of Lansing is the home of the first maximum-security prison of the state further up the Missouri River. The first incorporated town in Kansas was Historic Leavenworth, founded in 1854. North of the city, Fort Leavenworth is the Mississippi River's oldest active army post. Atchison City was the state's early commercial hub and is well-known as Amelia Earhart's birthplace.
